Amidst rumors of the resignation of flutterwave boss Ini Aboyaji the fast rising fintech giant in Africa has landed another investment worth $10million from mastercard.

Mastercard is a leading global payments & technology company that connects consumers, businesses, merchants, issuers & governments around the world.

The Fintech company Flutterwave’s whose mission is to build “modern payments technology and infrastructure for Africa and to enable people and businesses connect with the global economy”has  landed $20million investments from its series A funding round from  CRE Ventures, Fintech Collective, 4DX Ventures, and Raba Capital.  Green Visor Capital and Greycroft Partners still remain the fintech biggest investors.

 

Resignation of Flutterwave CEO Ini Aboyaji

 

 

According to unconfirmed reports earlier Aboyeji who has been CEO of the financial services provider since the creation of the company in 2016 is said to be stepping down to “pursue family goals.”

Iyin Aboyeji, has now finally announced his resignation as CEO of the company. In a statement issued by him

“It’s been amazing working with the Flutterwave team to build another great African company and I’m excited for the future under its new leadership, If there was any “somebody” who best fit the description, it would be Olugbenga. Not only is he equally a co-founder of Flutterwave, he also has vast experience in the financial services space. A seasoned fintech engineer, he has worked for Paypal, Google (Wallet) and a number of Nigerian banks over the past decade.” he said

He has been replaced by Fellow co-founder, Olugbenga Agboola .

According to Olugbenga, at the current scale of the company, it was important to have somebody else (in charge) “who can pretty much step in to take us to the next level of growth”.

One of Olugbenga’s first tasks will be to oversee Flutterwave’s impending expansion to 15 African countries. The fintech startup currently operates in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda.
