All things being equal, the messenger app Google Hangouts will be phased out from public use in 2020.

But the application will remain available as a business tool, meaning users must be signed up to G Suite.

Now this might also mean Google Allo – another app initially built to replace the hangout with little or no success –  might suffer the same fate.

According to TechRadar, Google might focus on Android Messages – or rather the chat platform that underpins apps including Android Messages.

It is expected to support the RCS or Rich Communication Services standard.

That simply means Google Hangouts, as we know it,  is not expected to exceed 2019.
