Finally, Nigeria unveils first electric vehicle

History was made as Nigeria unveiled its first electric vehicle.

The Electric Vehicle (EV) – called KONA ELECTRIC VEHICLE – was unveiled at a colourful ceremony held in Abuja.

It is expected that the EV will help Nigeria’s quest to reduce carbon emissions by 179 million tonnes per year by 2030 through the adoption of renewable energy and decarbonised mobility.

The Kona EV – which can travel 482 km after 9.35 hours of charging – is a collaboration between the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), and Stallion Group (the parent company of Hyundai Nigeria).

The car can be charged by simply plugging it in at home or at work and charge it for 9.35 hours for a full battery capacity.

It has five years of battery warranty and five years of vehicle warranty.
