EdoBits School – Empowering Edo youths in ICT

A few months ago, Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki vowed to use the power of ICT to equip youths of the state with the required technological skills to become entrepreneurs.

This action was carried out in a bid to open up Edo state to national and International investment.

From our checks, so far, so good!

A Digital Design Academy now – christened EdoBits School was unveiled at a Co-Creation Workshop held in Benin City, the Edo capital.

This school is modeled by stakeholders – youth, secondary school leavers, parents, community chiefs – to be unique to Edo residents thus maximizing the purpose of the long-term school programme.

The goal of EdoBits School is to increase the level of ICT awareness, to provide more path ways to employability, to make youths more socially responsible and is strictly for a defined set of residents who fit certain criteria.

It is also for secondary leavers who are expected to spend one year before gaining admission into tertiary institutions.

Before this event, a data science & artificial intelligence training programme was held.

Trainees were taught R Programming & Python Languages.
