The 2019 edition of FutureHack challenge is now open for registration. Organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through the Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE).

The FutureHack challenge is targeting technology start-ups by young people prospecting for mentorship, funds, and market for their innovative ideas.

This year’s challenge will focus on Cybersecurity and Digital Inclusion.

The aim of FutureHack is to establish and expand an international ICT specialist network that involves Nigerian youths within the country and in the diaspora. It aims to instill entrepreneurial ideals in academics and to build a platform in the academic research community to address problems for business and public entities.

Last year’s edition of the challenge was held in 3 geo-political zones. Its focus was to find clearly defined ideas and prototypes on e-Health, e-Education, and e-Agriculture.

The 4th edition is on Cybersecurity with the theme Opportunities and Challenges in Combating Cybercrime will hold on 2nd – 3 rd March 2020 at Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Port Harcourt (Uniport), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while the 5th edition on Digital Inclusion with the theme Digital Inclusion, Literacy, and Responsibility Towards a Better Life will hold on 9th – 10th March 2020 at PTDF Auditorium, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Bauchi State.

The selected teams are expected to participate in a coding challenge during the two hackathons, where software engineers, developers, and designers are involved in developing and improving creative ideas.

The successful start-up teams in each edition will win cash, undergo incubation at a suitable location, and NITDA will introduce the winners to national and international start-up events. Start-ups offering viable solutions also have an opportunity for MDAs to incorporate and execute their strategies.
