Meta announced that its newest social media platform ‘Threads’ already reached the 30-million mark for new sign-ups.
Threads was pitched by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg as a friendly rival to Twitter that similarly allows users to post messages, reply to other users, and like or repost messages.
Thread is officially the first real threat to the Elon Musk-owned company.it is currently the top free application on Apple’s App Store for both the United States, United Kingdon, and Nigeria
“Our vision is to take the best parts of Instagram and create a new experience for text, ideas, and discussing what’s on your mind.”
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg stated,
He also believed that the world needs this kind of friendly community, so he is very grateful to all who supported the launch of the company’s newest platform. The arrival of the latest platform comes after Zuckerberg and CEO Musk traded barbs for months, even threatening to fight each other physically.
There are still some differences between Twitter and threads, Threads do not use hashtags and currently do not have direct messages, unlike Twitter and other platforms like Instagram.
Meta is billing Threads as a platform where users can follow and connect directly with their favorite creators who love the same things. This means it is very similar to Twitter but will focus on the popular creators and influencers on Instagram.
